Description

Marker was shot from a car, traveling down Highway 18 in the San Bernardino Mountains. The camera is fixed on the rear view mirror throughout the entire film. This film was influenced by Dennis Hopper’s 1961 photograph, Double Standard, shot from the back seat of a car at the corner of Doheny Ave. and Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood, CA. The rear view mirror is part of the image. The title refers to the markers on the sides of mountain roads and an homage to one of Erenberg’s favorite filmmakers, Chris Marker.
